Kim Zimmer and Robert Newman are known by millions as daytime’s Josh and Reva, supercouple of the CBS drama Guiding Light. Since GL went off the air for good in 2009 (with Robert and Kim in the very last scenes of the series), the pair moved on to new gigs on stage and TV – some of them together!

Except for a couple of breaks, Robert spent 28 years on Guiding Light as Josh; Kim spent 21 years in Springfield and hauled away four Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

In this visit to The Richard Piet Show, Robert – who was nominated for two Soap Opera Digest awards and four Daytime Emmys in his role as Josh – talks about the effects of COVID-19 on the industry and what he’s doing next (at least a little about it!). He and Kim also speak frankly of their feelings about Guiding Light’s cancellation. At its end, GL was the longest running daytime drama on TV – having started on radio in 1937, then moving to TV in 1952.

You will also hear them speak fondly of The Barn Theatre in Augusta, Michigan where summer stock audiences have enjoyed them year after year – sometimes in the same production. Robert and Kim have traveled the country visiting similar stages and audiences from coast to coast.
